Why do poor people in poor countries have children when they can't even afford anything for themselves, and are sick with AIDS?

i find it so un- fare to the children!

Answer #1

…They can’t afford anything…including birth control. Many of those children were the result of r@pe.

Answer #2

Because they’re selfish or stupid and don’t use their brains and think of the damn child

Answer #3

I don’t think that is the case at all. How are they being selfish and stupid when they weren’t trying to get pregnant and have babies? They can’t help r@pe, and they can’t afford birth control.

Answer #4

Exactly…

Answer #5

A lot of people in those countries don’t have birth control methods. The women there are oppressed so they don’t get much of an education and don’t know that there are ways of preventing pregnancies.

Answer #6

That’s not always the case though. My school has sent out supplies to these countries as a mission statement and we see first hand what these people are doing. They start families to fill holes in their hearts, they feel alone and they selfishly have kids hand raise them in horrible conditions and yet I’m always hearing how love is what matters the most from them and I always think how long that child really has to live. It’s quite sad, but r.ape is not too common a factor in some villages. Its just about fillings scars in if you get what I mean

Answer #7

People in the US do that as well. The only difference is they rely on welfare or give the kid up for adoption here, which in my opinion is worse. People in those countries don’t live by our standards and social rules. We can’t use our rules to judge people from other countries who don’t follow our rules.. Then, like others mentioned, you can’t blame them for their lack of birth control methods.

Answer #8

Sometimes it can be that they where forced to have sex or just can’t get the protection that is needed.

Answer #9

Your school has sent supplies and so you think you can see first hand? Why? Because you went out to hand out these supplies to the villages? Lol, that is cute. People dont have kids in villages because they’re alone. That’s a western concept, see this is what we call using your cultural lens to try to explain what other people do in other cultures. Kids are not seen as companions in places like Africa. People who have the luxury of food, clothing, shelter and clean water can moan and complain about being lonely. People who are focusing on daily survival have bigger things to think about. People have kids in developing nations because they’re uneducated and to them children are wealth. They need children to help them survive (working in the fields, taking care of them when they get older, etc). Ra.pe is extremely high as is abuse in many developing nations. However, I do agree, the majority of the children are not a product of ra.pe. Perhaps we all need to get off our high horses and stop judging people who come from a different culture and who survive differently.

Answer #10

We don’t go to their countries we do Missions their we’r too young to do that but the faculty does. I’ve been studying these people since the fourth grade and it is not a western concept. Maybe I wasn’t talking about Africa as of fact I wasn’t thank you very much. And I know that about the children like I said before that’s not always the case yes they do the work but its not like oh let’s raise our kid in some poor country so they work for is. These kids get diseases you think they work like that? No. They are either sold to someone else or ignored, if the kid is healthy, yes they work. Try reading up on places like Bulgaria and you’ll get what I mean

Answer #11

I dont need to study, I grew up in Africa, I’ll take personal experience over your books. You do know Bulgaria is in Europe, and considered part of the western world?

Answer #12

I came from a 3rd world country and some of you are limited with your knowledge with what goes on down there. One of the main reasons are the religion of one country, where i come from is a catholic country so contraception, ab.ortion or anything with sex education should never be mentioned so they don’t know things that westerns do, 2nd majority of people don’t have money for ab.ortions + its looked down upon on, 3rd is like any other countries: teens tend to explore now a days. People can’t stop this things, its like telling everyone not to have sex because there’s no protection provided in shops etc, people would still do it and when things get to the worse they can’t do anything except try and give it a good future

Answer #13

You did? Yes I know that, but its not a western concept from I’ve been taught.

Answer #14

How to put this so it makes sense. When we learn certain things, it’s always from a certain point of view. Say marriage. Now you grew up seeing marriage as something you share with someone you love. That is not only a really recent concept, it’s also very much a western concept that has begun to spread. For most of history marriage had to do with finances and practical living arrangements. And children were part of your wealth. Also they were a sign of male virility, but any how, point is children were needed to help with survival. It is only with the rise of the standard of living that children came about for companionship, that’s a luxury only people who have basic necessities can consider. Now no one teaches you how certain things came about or why they are the way they are now. We just assume that things have always been that way and that the way we see things is how everyone sees things…

Answer #15

I get your point, and I suppose you would know more than me from how you grew up. I just go buy what they teach me lol which is kinda molded in private school I will admit

Answer #16

Actually it was less about growing up there than growing up in a international school which was racially, ethnically, religiously, diverse and we had people from all parts of the world. You kinda start noticing that you cant take how you see the world for granted. Because people have very different opinions on everything, including what is edible (grasshoppers are a delicacy where I come from, enough said…)

Answer #17

True, sorry for trying to prove you wrong there. Grasshoppers?? Oh Lord o.O

Answer #18

We have grasshopper season where they roast them :)

Answer #19

Yum yum :)

Answer #20

Lack of sexual education (and education in general) and a lack of funds/means of getting birth control medication.. Not to mention r(a)pe happens quite frequently in third world countries because there is no real law enforcement to stop it from happening.. It’s not like America where you can go buy a pack of condoms at wal mart or go to the doctor and receive birth control and there are certainly no adoption agencies or ab0rtion clinics.. I think basically it all is the result of unfortunate circumstances.. I highly doubt they have children just so the children will suffer.. I know it’s hard for us to see it because most of us (considering we obviously have computers/internet) are decently well off, the struggles of other cultures who weren’t born with the resources and amenities that we have.. I don’t think it’s our job to judge them, imagine yourself in their situation..

Answer #21

It is a different strategy. In 1st world countries most people only have as many children as they can comfortably afford and try to help those kids have the most successful life. In 3rd world countries with high death rates from disease and famine having a large number of kids is a way to increase the odds that at least some of your offspring will survive to adulthood.
