$190 billion for the war, but, $35 billion is too much for children

“Defense Secretary Robert Gates asked Congress Wednesday to approve nearly $190 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2008”…so, we’re going to spend, in one year, $190 billion on war. Killing people (because that’s what happens when people walk around with guns amongst unfriendly locals).

And, the president has promised a veto of the $35 bilion, over 5 years, for health care for poor children. Let’s see, that $7 billion per year. Not to mention, the cost to the economy for those families where they have to take care of their sick children, miss work, etc, etc…

If you had to pick, would you side with the mudering president…OR…the sick poor & infirm children from families that are less well to do? I know my vote :) How about you?

Answer #3

It is well known that management is stupid. Scientifically proven too. Management usually resides in the upper levels of buildings, where the air is thinner. This means there is less oxygen getting to the brain to make good decisions. So, the higher up you get on the management chain the stupider you are. Washington D.C. must have thinner air than the outer-most piece of our atmosphere. I’d vote for the children. But then again, what does a mainstream Minnesota-American know about health care and the poor people that grow up on the streets who can’t afford Band-Aids or aspirin. F.O. George W. Bush. You Suck! I vote American, not Republican, not Democratic. I vote for what’s the best for the citizens of America. Not the rich, but the poor. Come to think of it, there really aren’t that many good decisions out there. Which is why I don’t vote. But when I do, it will be for the common good of the common and less common people (the POOR!). American Government Sucks!

Answer #4

I think that we should be helping children in America and not wasting money on a sense war. This war is nothing more then the government trying to cover up for their previous mistakes. Bush is trying to finish his daddy’s war and he’s just listening to the people around him. He has no regaurd for the people of this country because if he was interested in our insterests and he did whats best for the country then we wouldn’t be in Iraq. 9-11 should have never happened because the FBI should have never let Osama go. They saw him on diallises in 1989. They had a track on him and they should have kept it. The government is still trying to find ways to justify the what they have done. And on top of everything, they gave Alquida $6 billion in 1989-1992.

Answer #5

It’s not that $35 billion is too much for children’s health care -it’s how the program is presented to begin with and I think the program that is already in place needs overhauling. It falls into the same trap as welfare does, too many rely on the government illegitimately while there are families out there that really need it.

Instead I think a health care system for everyone -regardless of financial standing and income- should be put into a bill.

There are companies out there that are trying to alleviate the strain. Look at Wal-Mart, they went to the $4 prescription plan and there are plans to have doctor offices INSIDE Wal-Marts in year or so.

You have to look at the facts, not just the $$$ numbers.

Answer #6

I am a big believer in helping other people. Especially children. So my answer, without question would be: To help the sick poor children and their families. That would be so much more compasionate, smart, and just the right thing. Bush should know that. : )

Hopefully our next president will be much more loving, smart, caring, and actually knows what they are doing!

Answer #7

I dont think that we should completly stop funding the war, i dont ageree with it, but we do have to stablize it before we pull the troops out, or else the country could end up like Uganda(whose had civil wars stemming from power struggles in the government for 20 YEARS). It is alot of money, but we cant jusst stop immedatly…
