got the depo shot for the first time three months ago

Ok so I got the depo shot for the first time three months ago, I would like to know if its true what I’ve been told. I’ve been told that the first 20-30 days you are on the depo shot for the first time its not affective. If you know if this is true or not please answer because I want to get pregnant but my parents dont want me to so I have no say in this ;[

Well I was on the depo shot too and guess what I took it faithfully and after 2 months I got pregnant because I thought it was 3-4 weeks as well. Turns out I was wrong. I just ended up never going on that type of birth control agian. Now I dont belive in birth control. Not saying you young girls should quit it because it will help you in the end it just does not work with my belifes, Yours truly, Demika Ray

It has nothing to do with immunity, if anyone would bother actually paying attention in sex ed, perhaps you’d figure out why it can take 3-4 weeks for the shot to become effective, that’s really great that you didnt become pregnant krystalooo, but that doesnt mean that the shot was effective that first time, it just means you were probably lucky… the reason it takes a few weeks to start kicking in, is because the way it works is by raising your hormone levels, so once you’ve been on the shot for a while, your hormone levels are raised to that level where you are no longer ovulating, but it can take a while to get your hormone levels up there…

No it is not true. I started the depo shot and was on it for four years. I started having sex 24 hours after having my first depo shot and basically every day since. The depo always worked in keeping me NOT pregnant.

But isnt everyones body different? Cant it be how your body can be or cannot be immune to the shot?
