How are a passive and active transport similar?

they are similar in that they transport particles . they are different in the way they transport the particles. passive transport requires no energy to transport things. active transport requires energy to transport particles against the charge.

It also has do do with concentration. If a substance is moving from a high to low concentration, which would be along the concentration gradient, that would be passive transport. If a substance is moving from a low concentration to a high concentration, which would be against the concentration gradient, that would be active transport.
