How can I get paddling fit without actually paddling?

I want to get fit for a possible paddling trip next year and don’t have access to a gym or somewhere else where I can get fit for the paddling. Does anyone know of anything that can be done at home in order to get fit for paddling or rafting?

Just like lifting wrights, its a lot of work paddling for long periods of time

Paddling using a lot of arm endurance and back strength so I assume any exercises that target those areas would work. A rowing machine exercise equipment would be great, but if you don’t have the means to get to the gym/buy one, simple push ups, lifting weights and chin ups would suffice. Also, cardio workouts improve over all endurance and physical fitness, so doing some aerobics or jogging wouldn’t hurt either.
