Oscilating Universe Theory?

O.K. So the universe is currently expanding faster than the speed of light. The theory is that when the universe stops expanding, it will begin to retract to a single point, smaller than the size of an atom, and then violently explode in another “big bang”. This is an ongoing process and that there have been endless “big bangs” and there are enless more to come. I don’t know where I heard this from, anyone else familiar with this?

Answer #1

I think you would be wise to take any knowledge gained from a basic cable channel with a fairly large dose of salt, blind.

Answer #2

The universe is expanding at a couple hundred or thousand mph dont remember but it. It will eventually reach it capacity and then “the big rip” will happen destoying everything. If your into this kind of stuff then buy or watch “the Universe” its a show that the history channel does. It is truely amazing and opens your eyes to new aspects.

Welcome to Fun Advice!

I don’t think the theory states that the universe IS expanding faster than the speed of light but that it WAS expanding faster than the speed of light during the first short period of time after the instant of the Big Bang.

I think the theory of expanding and contracting and multiple Big Bangs is an old theory that isn’t considered valid any longer.

I love that theory. Science is my life and my beliefs.
