That's your viewpoint. It's how you combine the tones together to make them interesting. One must have a light, medium, and dark, of any combination to make a group interesting. Look at your most expensive fabrics. If they have a combination of colors the colors are made up of light, medium and dark of that one color.
If you use gray, do this. Use a near white, or light gray, medium gray and a very dark gray with an accent of black. In the right proportions it's very striking.
Yup, they go together perfectly. I think everything goes with gray exept gray, just because two of the same color seem ugly to me...
peachy orange yeah, but i generally like dark colors to light. so black top with grey pants work well. or vise versa.
