Odd bump under my left armpit..under skin

hello.. I’m 13..and

I was wondering if it was normal to have a odd pea sized bump under my skin… I shaved my armpits yesterday if that’s of any importance..

please help.. I”m worried.. and I’m embarrassed to tell my dad..

Answer #1

Hi. This could just be an ingrown hair, as the first person answered, especially with you having recently shaved, but if it persists say after another 24 hours or you just feel worried, I’d get it checked by a doctor.

You can ask for a female doctor or even a nurse.

Anyway, let me know if you’re too embarrassed to do that because I have a friend that’s a nurse and I could ask her for you if that’s any help? xx

Answer #2

Ingrown Hair. or you could be allergic to the deodorant your using.

I wouldnt be too scared to to self exam your breast starting below the armpits toward your breast .. I wouldnt be too scared just change your deodrant see if its that. and if your still hesitant go to the Dr.

Hope I helped..

I agree with the others about the ingrown hair (but only if it looks swollen/puffy and red)…another possibility that pops into my mind is it could be a cyst (my mother actually had one removed as a teenager right around her armpit area). By all means though if it doesn’t get better in a week or two go seek advice from your doctor.

Answer #4

It might be nothing, but, if you’re worried about it then have a doctor look at it. You will put your own mind at ease. Tell your dad anyways. He might even drive you. If not then go anyway.

Answer #5

Why are you embarrassed to tell your dad?!?! What is he going to laugh at you or something?

I agree with the guy above, it’s probably an ingrown hair. I had one of those a couple of years ago. I did not shave my armpits though. My girl at the time wanted me to get it checked out but I said screw it, and it went away in about a week or so?

I’d recommend at least telling someone.

Answer #6

It’s an ingrown hair.

Answer #7

you could have an infection from shaving your armpit.. and you’ll need to get antibiotics.

Answer #8

I have one now, and I’m a little worried, but after reading the different posts, I’m sure it’s probably just a cyst or something like that. I hope you have gone already to check up on it, as it’s been awhile. you mentioned your too scared to tell your dad, is your mom around (sorry if this is a sore subject) or an aunt? you can maybe talk to one of your fiends mom’s? I know at your age it’s very difficult to open up to your dad about things going on with your body, but I am sure he would do all he could to make sure his little girl is healthy. But a friends mom, or an aunt can be very helpful to have for a female confidant if your mom isnt able to be there for you when you need a female to talk to.

In regards to the underarm lump… I agree with the majority that it’s probably an ingrown hair or a cyst, or a swallon lymph node (u have 5-6 little lymph nodes gathered together in your armpit area to help rid the body of toxins)… Someone mentioned cancer, and although that is something you always want to rule out, at your age it is extremely unlikely that is the reason behind your armpit lump. But it’s always good to practice doing the breast exam. But please remember your breasts are developing and so are little milk duds in your breasts, so you may find little lumps in your breasts that are just part of normal adolescent development.

its either a swollen sweat gland. also when you have a minor cut or scratch it gets infected. I have the same thing but I shaved my armpit and had a cut on it and when I put on deo it stung. since I forgot I had a cut. I asked my friend and she said if it doesnt go away check with doctor and put a heated pad on it. for me I kept squeezing dont. just leave it alone and it will go away but ever since then I keep getting it once both of my arms and now on my left armpit. I have the same problem so go see with a doctor.

Answer #10

it depends on how long its been there if it really is pea sized, then its unlikley to be an ingrown hair because there not that big if its like a pimple, red and swollen thern its an ingrown hair otherwise if not, go to a doctor I dont want to alarm you but lumps under the skin of that size can (rarely but still possibly) be breast cancer or soemthing seriouse so get it checked out if your worried

Answer #11

You should absolutely get it checked out by a professional. It could be nothing or it could not and it it is something, they are best noticed earlier while small. I HIGHLY encourage you to get it checked out because that is an area you check for lumps and bumps. Please.
