my sleeping track/ schedule

I’m am 13 and I stay up late a lot. I have heard that the average human needs at least 8 hours of sleep, but I only get like 6 or 7. Every time I try to go to bed at 11 so that I can get up on time for school it doesn’t work! Can someone tell me if this is bad?

Eight hours is an average figure, not a definite prescription for everyone.

The best indication of whether or not you’re getting enough sleep is how you feel. Not immediately on waking - some of us take a little longer to ‘warm up’ - but during the day. Do you feel tired a lot? Falling asleep over your school work?

If you generally feel OK during the day and evening, then you’re getting enough sleep. (Do try not to drink anything with caffeine after about, say, 5 or 6 pm - that can keep you from falling asleep later on.)
