What is a Maine Coon?

they come in many different colors and are super cute! i think they can get up to 25lbs on average

My 3 year old Dobie is a Maine Coon and he’s currently 26 pounds…they continue growing for 5 years, as opposed to the typical 1 - 2 year growth of other cats.

He is a big kitty

According to legend Maine Coons are descendants of Marie Antoinette’ cats. The story goes was that the Antoinette planed to come to America to escape execution during the French revolution. She shipped some of her most prized belongings including 6 long haired cats to the new world but was unable to escape France to avoid her date with the Guillotine. After the former Queen of France was executed the story goes that her cats were released and managed to survive and mate with feral cats leading to the cats we know as Maine Coons.
