Laptop won't register CDs

I have a Acer Windows XP laptop about eh- 3-4 years old. but lately my computer has stopped registering any CD’s that I put into it so I can’t download them to my itunes!!! Even when I search the computer for the CD in the C drive or whatever it’s called, it doesn’t show up. I am at the least very heartbroken on the account I have some new CD’s. Any ideas how to fix this?

I agree with the person that answered this that your CD and DVD drive is broke and you should get it repaired. Your best solution to the problem is to buy a whole new drive.

Your CD/DVD drive is probably busted. You can go get it repaired, which most probably means buying a new drive and getting it put in.

Or you can get a cleaner CD and see if it is only a dusty laser! They have little brushes that are mounted on them to clean the laser reader. At about $15, it is worth a try before replacing the whole drive.
