Isn't birth control supposed to make your period lighter?

Ever since I have been taking my birth control my periods are way heavier and they last like four days longer. I get really bad cramps, headaches, fatigue, everyting. I never got that before I went on birth control and they were only like two-three days. Is this bad? I have talked to my doctor and all she said was I need a stronger kind but she didn’t give it to me..

Hmm that does seem odd as I started it because of really bad period pains. But no, the pill does not make your period lighter! By no means! It is supposed to balance out your hormones but prehaps it’s unbalancing yours? Try a couple of other pills but if they do the same then your going to have to forget about it. Hope this helped x

they are all side affects of the pill and while they do help, they dont help everybody next time, talk to your doctor about getting a stronger one, and what he would reccomend for you birth control is messing with your hormones, so theres bound to be side affects but talk to your doctor also if your having more negatives than positives while on it

what I would do is just stop taking it for a month, and if your periods are better go to the doc and get checked out, but this takes a lot of work to be abstinant for a while.

You need to lower your dosage.. go to the doctor and tell him your problem.. I am haveing the same problem right now.

YEA YOU REALY NEED A STRONGER KIND IF IT’S DOIN ALL THAT BUT IF IT’S CAUSING ALL THAT THEN JUST STAY OFF IT AND IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A BABY WHEN YOU GET OLDER I’D ADVISE YOU TO NOT TAKE B-CONTROL AGAIN BECAUSE IT ENABLES YOUR EGGS MY MOM WAS TAKIN BIRTH CONTROL AND NOW SHE CANT HAVE ANOTHER BABY

Yeah those side effects dont sound good, if your doctor isnt doing anything go see another doctor or a specialist…

Strange, the pill is suppsed to help with heavy bleeding and cramps. Def. have it checked out
