Is it possible to catch a cold sore from kissing?

ok my boyfriend a couple days ago got a cold sore and hes been treating it wit medication …its been about I dont noe 4-5 days since hes gotten it and it seems to be goin away …is it possible for me to catch it from him if hes treating it and I was to kiss him ???

Also, remember that the virus that causes coldsores is the same one that causes genital herpes, so you and your boyfriend should avoid oral sex (if you’re not already).

Dear nessa19, Cold sores are contagious. They can pass from one person to another through skin-to-skin contact. The greatest risk of infection is from the time the blisters appear until they have completely dried and crusted over. There is a possibility of spreading the virus for some time even after the skin has healed. Sue…good luck
