How to get over depression without counseling?

how do you get rid of depression with out the help of mental health counselors? also what can you do to get sleep in your house if everybody who lives there is making a lot of noise really late at night or coughing all night? I need some answers people!! if you can please answer both questions if you don’t know what to write about one question write about the other one!!! oh and may be give me something positive to think about because I haven’t been getting that lately from anyone and even tho I don’t know you it will help!! If you can, talk to your family doctor and see if you need medication. You can get some meds very cheap now. If that’s not available or not needed (or even if it is), start journalling. By writing down your thoughts and feelings, you will work through a lot of issues. I know it sounds goofy but it really does work. Going for walks or spending more time in nature can help relax you as well. A pet that’s easy to care for like a cat can make a difference. Above all, talk with people you can trust. Connect with others who have depression and learn how they survive day to day.

As for the sleeping, it’s hard to get your brain to stop when you are anxious or depressed. I’ve had to use medication in the past to get over this but a warm bath and a good book can help.

Ok I dont really have a solution to depression except for thinking differently… cognitive therapy… also something about depression, I know this seems hard and it wont cure it all, but you tend to get into this pattern of behavior that leads to avoiding situations and being alone, you need to get past that and do things (yes even if you dont want to) that involve other people… and you need to believe you will get over it. NOTHING lasts forever…

try ear plugs for the other thing

The best way to help with depression, is to write down all the things you love in your life.. its to do with being positive. Dont let things that annoy you get to you. also take up a new hobby for example yoga amazing to get rid of drepression or stress. Go to new places, clubs or bars and met new people.

the depression could be coming because you are emotionally tired. tell your family you cant sleep beause of the noise and ask them if they can b a bit quieter from a certain time. Also take a sleeping tablet. or have a long warm bath and cup of hot chocolate usually has you out like a light the min you hit the pillow =}

Hi,

As you know, depression can be very painful and is not easily beaten. So I would suggest, in no particular order:

  1. Hard excercise

  2. Drink lots of mineral water

  3. Counselling

  4. Understanding and support from close friends and family

  5. If possible distance yourself from what it is that is causing the depression

Try and share your feelings with others, do things you enjoy with people you enjoy, don’t waste energy changing those things that are out of your control to change.

Set yourself small goals to meet that will attack your depression in small manageable pieces, keep a record of your targets and celebrate when you meet your targets.

Don’t expect to beat depression easily or quickly and expect the occassional relapse.

Some people find that keeping a thought diary can also help to monitor progress.

I wish you luck with your struggle and suggest once again that if at all possible, you follow the path to recovery with someone you trust by your side.

Want to try something DIFFERENT ??? just do the following RIGHT NOW ;
