How can I stop being so depressed?

Hello, I’m Dan, and I could really use some advice right now. Ever since my parents got divorced about a years ago, I have constant bouts of depression. My parents think it stopped after the first few months, but I never told them I keep having these bouts all the time. Recently, my cousin visited me from Florida (I live in Connecticut). I really love my cousin a lot, she’s like a sister to me, and I got really depressed when she left. She left just last week and im still feeling really depressed and I dont know what to do. I miss her so much and it’ll be months before I see her again. I dont want to be depressed for that long, I dont think I could take it. What should I do?

If you can’t talk to your parents, then see your doctor. I have had depression for over 30 years and if you need medication, it will help, but talking to your parents will help as well. Don’t leave this to sort itself out, go get some help, you’ll feel a lot better after.

i know exactly how you feel my parents got a devorse and my mom moved to cali and my dad lives in washington…just remember you will see her again. it will pass i swear it was hard as hell for me when my parents first split up but i really have accepted it.

Maybe you should see a doctor. Are you having trouble doing normal activities like getting out of bed, if yes you could try medication

Listen, get yourself busy with something. Perhaps, playing your favorite sport(s). Walking is good as well. They have these St. John pills I think that’s what it’s called.
