How to keep laptop battery from dying quick?

All the laptops I’ve been on and owned tends to die within like 5 minutes without being plugged in which defeats the point of having a laptop. I know it’s something about the battery being messed up. I ordered a brand new laptop today and was wondering what do I have to do in order to not mess up the battery? I heard something about how I need to fully charge it or something before using but I’m not sure how and if this is what I need to do. Please help. Thank you.

And I miss all of you on the funadvice community. Haven’t been here for a while…hehehe.

Answer #1

Check your current power plan. If it’s set to ‘high performance’, the battery will last the least amount of time. You can change it to ‘power saver’ to get the longest use out of each charge.

Answer #2

Try charging while the computer is turned off. When it is on, It draws some current which would go to charge the battery. Leave it charging a little longer than the book says. Do not charge much longer than needed and do not let it run down to nothing. Both will shorten the life of the battery. Joe
