Islam is a progressive religion.It states that a Muslim man must give a woman(from any religion)the utmost respect and courtesy.A man must not speak slanderously of a woman or treat her like a lower being or he will be punished on the Day pf Judgement.A muslim woman has the right to obtain divorce and work,etc.In short,a woman is equal to a man.

Islam tells Muslim men to treat their wives,mothers,sisters,etc,with deep respect and gentleness.The Prohpet(SAW) himself treated young girls and women with a respect which surprised the other non Muslim Arab men of his time,who were used to treating their women as objects rather than humans. They may marry four women but only(and only)if the first wife allows another marriage.
