Can pregnant women eat prawns

Answer #1

The issue is more along why doctor’s advise not eating certain foods. They do so because there is an elevated risk factor with these foods. Getting food poisoning when you are healthy is fine, getting it when you are pregnant, no so fine. They advise against unpasturized foods, and foods that are not cooked well, or eating large amounts of sea predators (think swordfish and shark) because of the possibly high mercury levels. Realistically, are these foods going to cause a woman to miscarry right there? No. Have women eaten all these foods in the past without problems? Yes. Is there a greater possibility, however minute, that these foods could cause a complication at a greater rate than other foods? Yes. I know that last line is worded funny, but I find it pretty hard to believe that because a woman eats one small piece of unpasturized mozzerella cheese that she’s going to lose her baby.
