How do I tell my dad im getting emancipated?

My dad is always calling me names and im getting sick and tired of it. My friends are always telling me to tell someone about it but I dont know how. I want to get emancipated so I don’t have to worry about him torturing me.

Uhuh. Good luck with that. Getting emancipated isnt as easy as every single teenager on this site seems to think it is. It means the court will grant you rights of an adult. Not only do you have to have a really good reason for wanting this, you also have to prove you can take care of yourself (I.e. pay your rent, food, etc,). You also need a lawyer if you want a chance at winning. You’re not even 16 yet. If you feel you’re being abused, you can call child protective services. If you still want to try, call up legal aid and talk to them about it.
