Which heritage do biracial people identify or claim more?

Just curious, for people are biracial, being of European-American & African-American descent, with background do you/they “identify” with more? Trying to figure out a way to word this without sounding racist or like a jerk or something. Just curious cause it seems to me that more tend to lean towards their black heritage (black pride, if you will) than their white heritage. Barack Obama isn’t actually the first black president, he’s the first president of black descent, but his mom was white, making him biracial, which is even cooler if you ask me.

Most biracial kid’s i know that are mixed black & white identify with there black side, idk why i think its cause they look more black then white, most time’s when somebody is mixed with black they look black most times.

Depends I guess? On where they grow up and the environment they were raised in? Many of my friends and classmates were biracial where I grew up. They tended to associate more with their white relatives because they grew up closer to their European families than their African ones. The European families tended to be more accepting of mixed marriages than did the African families. But you really can’t generalize. As for Obama, I’ve never understood that. I suppose it was all political. I don’t really know why everyone goes on about him being the first black president. He is half-white. He’s as much white as he is black. So that never made any sense.

Actually, I think you should take a look at this: http://funadvice.com/r/14tagqna8on

It’s weird: In several south American countries anyone who has got any white ancestors is considered white. While in the US anyone who has got any black ancestors is considered black. You can actually be white and turn black if you move from Brazil to USA.

I believe that the entire race thing is ridiculous. I mean we’re all “out of Africa” for those who believe in evolution. (Or we’re all Adam and Eve’s progeny for those who believe in that story.) There can actually be larger genetic difference between two black people African people (one from East Africa, the other from West Africa) than there is between the average white European, the average Chinese and an average native American person. So “black” should not be one race but several. Either that or we just drop all the “race” talk and fill in “homo sapient” in any form that asks for race.

I agree that it depends where they grow up. What is interesting mentioning all this in my country we differentiate, between black, white, coloured, indian etc. We don’t just have it pure black and white so to speak and the coloured i.e. biracial people identify with a uniquely coloured culture in this country.
