Yes, I knew I had read something about it. If you read up on Cooper Pairs, then that explains one circumstance where they come into contact. Wikipedia actually has a great explanation of this process which is consistent with what I remember reading. There is a lot of debate about it... None of the articles I found from the Journal of Physics explain what Cooper Pairs are, but talk about their relevance to superconductivity. So read Wikipedia's article first and then murder your brain when you get to college with all of the extensions on Cooper Pair and BCS theories :D.
I believe you can... At least theoretically. It would require a lot of energy to do it, but I seem to recall having read an article in the New Journal of Physics that mentioned something along these lines a few months ago. Maybe search for articles in that journal if you have access to it (most university databases do, so talk to a friend who goes to college if you don't have such access :D).
This is what the particle accelerator/colliders do. Like yummeh said... it requires an immense amount of energy to accomplish... but physicists use these tests to study quantum mechanics and the fundamental structures of matter.
Might have to wait till college but thanks, at least I know my prospective search won't be in vain :P
