How do I get over my fear of camping on the river?

:s I use to love it, But last time I went there was a big storm, The wind tore our tent apart and flooded everything we were trying to hold the tent up and stay standing up.. We finally had to leave but we had to find our way through the woods and to a road, I was in a bathingsuit with no shoes, we had to climbe a big rock heel and I ened up breaking my foot and busting my face up pretty bad.. But we were in the woods for 3 hours before we finally found a road, It was storming baaad and every since that night I refuse to go back camping on the river although It was something I used to love to do. What do I do?

Answer #1

Getting a compose and remembering which way leads to the closest road would be a good idea…

Answer #2

That doesn’t really answer my question at all.

Answer #3

True.. But it would be a good idea just to make you feel more comfortable if you get talk in to going.. Wouldn’t it?

Answer #4

Go to the river as often as you can, just for the day or for a few hours. Go swimming, and do what you would usually do! Leave at dark, or whenever you need to. Small visits could help alot. And are you able to bring a vehicle to the river? If so, the next time you decide to stay the night, if something happens, you have a vehicle near by to go in for protection. But it all takes time to get over a fear..just be patient with yourself.

Answer #5

Don’t panic; if worst comes to worst, remember you have a river to follow. Speaking of that, you might find out beforehand where the river leads, so you know that, if worst comes to worst, you’re heading somewhere good. Draw yourself a small map; no need to be fancy! Fifty paces right, twenty left etc. would do just fine. Then, you just follow your map backwards. Best of luck!

Answer #6

Just check the weather forecast next time before you go. This was an isolated incident and is not going to happen everytime from now on for crying out loud.

Answer #7

We did check the weather forcast, It a high possability that It will happen. It storms every other day on the river here, No since in being rude ‘ for crying out loud. ‘
