What makes a good fashion designer?

I was just wondering what makes a good fastion designer. Plus I’m thinking that it could be a good career! :)

A person who knows what people are interested as can create clothing that fits the current style, OR a really creative person who can come up with new ideas and start new styles that people can start wearing.

My dad was in the ‘garment’ business for a while…this is SO true and underestimated by a lot of people from the outside, looking in. If it weren’t for good timing of trends, colors, etc, he wouldn’t have lasted the decade he did in that business.
