Is drinking a sin?

Answer #1

All things in moderation. Having a glass of wine at dinner or a beer or two is ok. But to be an alcohalic and drink to the pouint were it harms ur body then yea it is. Because ur body is a holy vessel that belongs to the Lord. U should treat it as such.

Answer #2

As long as you don’t get drunk it isn’t. Even Jesus drank wine. Remember the story where he was at a wedding and they ran out of wine and he turned the water to wine (his first merical). As long as your drinking doesn’t get out of control there is no problem with it. People just don’t like it because some people are easily addicted to it and it’s better to never start than to start, get addicted, and then have to stop again.

Answer #3

To me a sin is getting in the way of your spiritual growth or the spiritual growth of others. You can sit in church seven days a week, but if you believe your drinking is keeping you from a relationship with God, then it will. If you think it seperates you from God, then it does.

Answer #4

The literally definition of the word sin is falling short of the mark. This term was commonly found in the sport of archery. So using this definition, I would say that if drinking is causing you to fall short of your center target in life, indulging would not be such a great move.

No, but being a drunkard is. If you live according to the Word and let the Spirit fill you, you will be convicted if or if not you should drink. For some people drink is a stumbling block. Maybe they have alcoholism in their family, then it is better to abstain!
