Does drinking water really help you lose weight?

Or does it just add whats called “water weight”? I’ve heard both…I drink up to 1 nalgene a day but I don’t think thats enough. Any suggestions? I’m also gaining a lot of muscle too. Which sucks. Oh well, I cant do anything about that either, right?

Drinking water instead of sugary beverages is good for your health and may lead to weight loss. Drinking ample water does seem to help weight loss. There is no need to go overboard though. Consuming too much water can lead to electrolyte imbalances and even death.

I’d say to drink when you are thirsty and water should be your first choice.

there is nothing wrong with gaining muscle, because muscle burns calories quicker. if you gain muscle weight, you will lose fat more efficiently. drinking water instead of soda or sugary drinks will keep everything in check in your body and it will make losing weight easier on your body. also, drinking a lot of water will keep you from feeling hungry between meals, and it will help you stay hydrated and focused. hope this helps :)
