What would doctors do about Bipolar?

I’m taking my friend to the doctors, with no adults/parents. we both agree that she suffers with bipolar.. She even harms herself all the time. What will the doctors do? Is it a good idea? Please help.

Answer #1

in general if she does happen to have it they will prescribe medication for the specific help she needs, lithium, anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, and benzodiazepines. and during periods of bipolor depression they’ll prescribe a anti depressant or a mood stabilizer. also you’ll need insurance for the visit and medication if she has it.

Answer #2

if she doesn’t have insurance try a local guidance center, they can help.

Answer #3

How old is she? No doctor’s going to prescribe psychiatric meds to a minor without informing the parents. If she’s of age, the only way to control bipolar is through medication. And if she’s self harming, she needs to see a therapist

Answer #4

There is not much you can do but prescribe mood helpers she is nice but sometimes a little crazy getting mad for stupid things and laughing at nothing but is nice.
