Should I get contacts or stay with glasses?

I had an eye appointment about a month ago and I had to get glasses. The doctor said I can switch to contacts if I want to. I don’t really like my glasses, I look WAY better with out them. I heard that contacts can be hard to put in and expensive. Should I get contacts or stay with glasses?

Answer #1

Try contacts - you can always go to glasses if needed - they’re not hard to put in - just a little time to get used to - I would go with disposable…Good luck !!

Answer #2

I have both, contacts are very comfortable ^_^ but only for a couple hours they do dry out and begin to bother your eyes if you wear them for to long.

If you’re going to get contacts, get a pair of side-glasses as well, because you shouldn’t wear contacts everyday. I’ve tried contacts before. After a week or so, I didn’t really like the inconvenience. I couldn’t really have contact with my eyes without being careful, I had to take them out every single time I want to swim, and they’re much much more expensive. I’m not saying contacts suck though, I like them quite a bit. :D I think if you really think you have the patience // responsibility to take care of them or deal with inconveniences, and maybe if you’re really desperate for them, get them.

I stuck with glasses instead of contacts. They’re more convenient in some ways, you know, instant taking on-and-off, etc. I look much better with contacts, but I’m proud enough about myself and officially don’t care if people think I ‘look like a dork’, because I have a strong enough self-esteem. Besides, its the inside that matters. Maybe you should build yours?

Point is– it’s really your choice, how much you want them. I think you should maybe try a trial period of contacts to see how it is for you. If you don’t like them after a good week or two, try switching back to glasses. If you have some financial problems, I really wouldn’t go for contacts. Some people actually look -better- with glasses on.

You can always go for eye surgery, but you look kind of young for that. It can have side-effects when not at the specified ages.

Answer #5

its good to have both =)

Answer #6

Most people look better with contacts (I say most because some people actually look better with glasses). Most eye doctors will give you contacts you can try for a while… Yes they take a while to get used to but it really isnt that hard to put them in, but you’re still going to need your glasses (your eyes get tired, infections, sometimes your eyes just dont want to let the contacts sit…)

I guess try the contacts, see how you feel after a week or so…

They are more expensive though…

Answer #7

I think you should get contacts, but keep your glasses. I have contacts, and they are hard to put in and take out at first, but after a week, you get used to them, it’s really easy. They’re also really comfortable most of the time. As for price, check to see if your insurance covers it. They’re definitely worth it though. On days you don’t want to wear your contacts, or if you don’t have time to put them in, you can always just wear your glasses.

I prefer glasses - although I prefer the way I look without my glasses on, contacts are just too expensive in my opinion for what they are and they don’t make the non-disposable kind anymore. And the truth is contacts are not a replacement for glasses - if you have contacts, you are not supposed to wear them every day, at least one day of the week you are supposed to wear glasses instead of contacts to give your eyes a rest from the contact lenses and avoid further damage to your eyes.

Personally I stick with glasses, but hope to get my eyes buzzed in the next few years so I don’t have to worry about glasses or contacts at all. But its a personal choice… if you don’t mind the cost, and don’t like wearing glasses all the time, then contacts might be the solution for you.
