Can a concussion damage the brain forever?

I had one ten years ago and I did experience major depression for years and dizziness when I first got it.

My concentration has gotten worse ever since I had it and I act a little younger than my age for some reason. Are these signs of permanent brain damage?

Answer #1

I wouldnt say forever. It really depends on where the damage came from.

Answer #2

I fell on my head from falling 12 feet down.

Answer #3

Head trauma can certainly cause permanent brain damage. Ever hear an old boxer talk? All those blows to the head scrambles their brains and causes cognitive impairment later in life Our brains have so much extra capacity that in most cases we simply wire around any minor brain damage; usually only massive or repeated trauma causes permanent neurological problems. As logicians say, correlation does not equal causation. Your having problems after your concussion could be entirely a coincidence and the two events could have nothing to do with each other beyond their time frame.

Answer #4

Thanks. I think that maybe my current problems and my concussion in the past may be different, you’re right.

Answer #5

They sometimes cause eyesight lost so I would say theirs a possibility of one to one million to get permanent brain damage
