Do chiropractors actually work?

First not sure if I spelled that right but I was wondering if when you go there and crack it will fix your neck so it’s re aligned? Or is that what people just say. Because I recently fell on my neck during a soccer game and now it’s pretty sore and I have headaches and my dad says if I go there they will fix it up.

Chiropractic is based on the idea that most health problems are caused by impaired spinal nerve function that they call subluxations. This theory is been long discredited and not all chiropractors believe it. It is easy to dismiss chiropractic as quack medicine but some health conditions do respond to chiropractic manipulation. They theory behind it may be quack but the treatments still help a lot of people. Today chiropractors have to take quite a bit of real medical physiology and pathology so they will be able to recognize when they have patients who need conventional medical care. They mainly specialize on “wellness” and the sort of aches and pains that do not respond well to traditional medicine so they usually do not do any harm and occasionally can help. If you have a sore neck going to a bone cracker might help but be very skeptical about other alternative medicine they may push like homeopathy, reflexology, traditional Chinese medicine, witch doctors, etc. Some herbal therapies do in fact work but medicinal herbs are not necessarily any safer or more effective than conventional medicines. Whatever you decide to do good luck and hope you feel better soon!
