Answer #6

White bread is preety tasty, especially for pb & j, but extremely bad for you. I think that switching to whole grain is the best move for your children, even though pb & j will never be as tasty…sacrifices, sacrifices…

Answer #7

“Grown up bread”? You make it sound like adults don’t eat white bread… To answer your question, no. White bread isn’t unhealthy, just not as healthy as whole grain. My siblings and I don’t like the taste of whole grain so we don’t eat it and parents or any other people we know wouldn’t ever want to stop us from eating white bread.

Answer #8

I’m a little mixed on the subject, honestly. I do think it would be healthier for kids to not eat white bread, but it’s hard to expect them to stop eating it when they’re already used to it. It’s kind of like taking sugar away, and only using something such as splenda in everything. It’s not the same. It’s not hard for adults to adjust and make healthier choices, but it is for kids.

If you want your children to eat healthier bread, however, buy the healthier foods and encourage them to try it. Maybe suggest a tasty combo for the sandwich so that they will like it and want to try it again.

Answer #9

Why would you give a young child just the white bread? Let them try all brands of bread that you have. It’s not a matter of age.

If they like it and if they can chew it they can have whole-grain bread and all other sorts of dark bread at any age. It’s not like it’s bad for kids to bite stuff. They don’t need it soft.

There are some brands of bread that kids don’t usually like. Most sour-dough breads need some getting used to. And there are adults who do not like them either. I would not force them to eat that if they refuse, but you can make a rule they need to try a food before they are allowed to say they don’t like it.

Your kids are school kids if I remember correctly. They are old enough to bake their own bread, if you show them how to. Try that. Have them weigh the ingredients, have them put in the spices, have them knead the dough, have them shape the bread, have them watch the oven. And then make them try their own bread while it is still warm. Fresh bread is best. And if you made it yourself, then its even better. The kids will love it.

Answer #10

Please make exceptions for French baguette if you ever go to France. That stuff is great.

Answer #11

I think you should allow your kids to try different kinds and make their own decisions. Even if they’re young, they can understand the difference between “healthy” and “unhealthy” and choose accordingly.

Answer #12

granary is the best for you. white bread is like glue. ditch it.
