Can Parakeets Live outside?

I live in Santa Cruz, Ca. I got these parakeets for my son and they live in a huge cage outside. They’ve been out there for a week and seem fine. I thought if I get a cover for the winter and a heater they will be ok when it get really cold. Is this a good idea?

Maybe ask the pet store where you bought them from. I don’t think it’s a good idea, but I also don’t know how cold it gets where you live. Here, the little birds would die in the winter! Just call the store and they can probably help you out. :)

parakeets can live outside. I used to want a parakeet and reaserched alot on them. I asked my mom about them and she mentioned that her brother had his outside. You need a place free of predators to your bird, a large cage that wont let the bird escape, a clean environment, the essential things your bird needs. I’d reccomend PLASTIC water bottles and rust-free metal food bowls.
