If we get turtles and they live out side can they stay there in the winter (I live in Nebraska and threre are clod winters) or should I bring them inside?
no turtles cannot live outside in the winter, they are cold blooded animals which means that they acclimate their blood tempurature or body heat according to their surrounding tempurature. So basically if you left your turtles out in the winter they would probably freeze to death. Instead you should leave them inside with a heating lamp and keep them away from breezy areas. You can ask about these lamps at any local pet store that sells reptiles. I hpe this helps ya!!! xoxo Marissa
Note: Always wash your hands before and after handling the turtle. Children less than 5 years of age should not handle turtles. If older children are allowed to handle the turtle, teach them how to do it correctly and be sure they also wash their hands before and after contact with the turtle.
