Bringing parakeets in from the heat

I live in Georgia and recently temps have been well over 100 F. My boyfriends parents have had two parakeets in a cage on the back porch for about two months now. I would guess that they are about 6 to 8 months old.

Apparently, they have lived outside all their lives. I have two parakeets of my own and they are my babies. I have them in a very large cage indoors. Anyway, I think I am going to be getting these parakeets soon and I want to know how to get them used to the air conditioning.

I don’t want to leave them outside because I know that they can get overheated really easy.

How should I get them used to the indoors without giving them a shock to their systems.

Thanks! Sam

well you should still keep them outside for a little while but in a more shaded area. and after a little while (more than a few days) bring them inside but close to the back door and after every few days or so bring them in the house a little farther until there in the spot you want them to be in.

I have 2 parakeets and since I live in tx its gets really hott in the morning ill take them out for like an hour or 2 but when its gets too hott ill take them inside for the day

Wow shaw I havent had parakeets in like forever. But I’ve had @ least 7 of them throughout life:). I would suggest get them use to room temp first. Than I would gradually lower the temp in the room using your a.c. over a period of days.
