Why can my friend bench more than he can squat, its bizarre because anyone who does strength training knows that lower body is the base and is going to be the strongest. So why does he bench more?
The squat requires balance and coordination as well as strength. It is certainly possible that some people are not able to squat as much as they can bench press.
The squat is also a more dangerous lift in that if something goes wrong you can really injure yourself. Because of that many people are afraid to squat as much weight as they are strong enough to. A Smith machine can give lifters more confidence here.
I think he should start focussing on lower body workouts too and try different types of squats to look proportionate. A massive chest and skinny legs ain't right! Well, it looks weird.
Probably because he's trying to get that weird look some guys get when they only do upper body work outs & never do their legs...like an upside down pyramid.
is that even possible
