I'm 17, pregant and want to keep the baby

I just turned 17 years old, and I’m pregnant. My boyfriend is 21 and we’ve been together for about 2 years and 2 months, but we’ve known eachother for a longer time than that. The problem is that I’m currently in Foster Care and I don’t want my baby to grow up in a foster home like I’m doing. I know it might have been irresponsible and totally stupid of me to get pregnant, but it was a complete accident. We always used protection and I was on the pill, but I stopped taking it in May because it was giving me too many side effects. I’m about 3 weeks pregnant so I’m not that far into the pregnancy. I’m a college student, I work and he’s in his senior year in college, has a ressetion proof job, his own apartment and his own car. His father absolutely adores me and so does his whole family. My brother, myaunt and my grandparents (who basically raised me) love him aswell, but my brother is only 20 years old so he can’t really take custody of me, and my grandparents & aunt are in Dominican Republic so that’s out of the question.

Now I know a lot of you would advice me to abort, but that is certainly out of the question because I was going to be aborted and I don’t believe in that. Adoption is clearly out of the list aswell because I myself have witness what it feels like to not be in a home with your biological parents. I would love to have my baby, and I know my boyfriend is a responsible man because through out this whole process that I’ve been ward of the court (foster child) he has been the only person supporting me monetarily and emotionally.

I want to know if there’s any possible way that we can get married with out guardian consent. I’ve thought about this since I found out last week, and my boyfriend knows and he’s exited, and we’ve decided we would get married ASAP and start our own family. We’ve planned this before but we were going to wait untill I turned 18 next year and I would sign myself out of the ACS system.

Someone please give me some information that might be useful and that I can use, facts. I know getting married at a young age doesn’t always work but I can asure that I know what I’m getting myself into. I know that it wasn’t responsible thing, but accidents happen, and I want to know a way I can do this with out anyone coming out harmed in any type of way.

I was 16 when I got pregnant… so I know sortof what your going through, and honestly… I thought I would have to run away or something to be able to keep my baby- but I told everyone about it, and to my suprise- they were dissapointed, but also very supportive. if your foster family is any count at all, they will be understanding and supportive too. also- as long as you have been 17 for at least 3 months you will be 18 when the baby is born so you can tell everyone to kiss your a$$ then! :) it will be hard to disapoint your family, but it will be even harder to hida a big baby belly, or a screaming kid. dont hide your love, and dont hide your babies life. be proud! youre going to be a mommy! and a damn good one it seems!

You can either wait until you are 18 and then get married or you can go to Maryland to get married. Maryland allows pregnant (or if you already have a kid) 16 and 17 year olds to get married without parental consent and you DO NOT have to get permission from a judge first. You have to have an official letter from a doctor in Maryland which confirms your pregnancy. You DO NOT have to be a Maryland resident to get married in Maryland and a Maryland marriage certificate is valid in all other areas of USA.
