Is a $500 purebred english bulldog a good deal?

Answer #1

DONT! get that dog! its a good deal cause we bought ours for $1000. but they have a lot of problems that you really dont want. trust me!me english bull dog farts, snores, has seisures, has anal gland problems, and can be kinda mean… the anal gland pronlem is the worst, our house smelled beautiful before we got that dog, but now it smells like butt. i mean you could get lucky and not have that problem but i wouldnt take the chance. i love my dog but the smell is horrific, it gives me the chills. thats how bad it is.

Answer #2

First of all…why is this not posted and available under the animal and pets category?

Second…There are millions of dogs killed in shelters each year. Why not adopt instead of buying? You can visit petfinder.com and enter your zip code and breed wanted and find an adoption group that has purebred bulldogs. Also 1/4 of animals in shelter are purebred.

Answer #3

Because all of those have been scams (I checked out adoption, first) they wanted money FIRST, then they’d send the dog.

Answer #4

You are talking about internet dog purchases, I don’t care if they called them adoptions…not adoptions in your area. petfinder.com is not a scam. the rescue groups are in your area and want to do a home inspection BEFORE you are allowed to adopt.

Answer #5

here is a link to one in LA…I saw you are in Cali so I just picked a zip code.

Answer #6

Oh, okay thank you. :) In case they don’t have english bulldogs, is $500 a good deal or no?

Answer #8

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN PURCHASING DOGS WHEN SO MANY PUREBREDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.

Also many of the dogs that you purchase originate in puppymills and are not in good health.

Answer #9

bulldogs are great never had a problem with mine…and 500 is a great price…i spent 1000…

Answer #10

Depends…since Bulldogs have many MANY genetic disorders, you might be buying a $500 dog who will cost you thousands in a matter of a couple years. How old is this dog? Is it spayed/neutered? Are the parents OFA’d?

If it’s a puppy, I’d have it Vet checked before I said yes to anything.

Answer #11

The puppies were born May 1st, but they aren’t letting them go until it’s time.. so no, it’s not spayed or neutered.. OFA’d?

Answer #12

Petfinder is NOT a scam….possibly the only one that isn’t….

Answer #13

OFA is an organization that tracks genetic skeletal disorders. ANY good breeder of larger dogs, will have all their breeding stock OFA’d (xrayed), to ensure they aren’t passing down hip displaysia, elbow displaysia, spinal defects..etc

Answer #14

depending on where you get it from. the above person probably got it from a pet store. and a lot of pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills and could also get them from illegal and unhealthy puppy mills. that’s why store bought puppies have so many problems. but if you buy from a breeder you can tell what conditions the puppy was raised in, but $500 does sound like a good deal for a purebred, yes.
