Whats up with young people today?

No one wants to spend the time learning anything anymore?

Answer #1

Nope…they all want to come on FunAdvice and ask for the answers

Answer #2

Nothing wrong with doing that for a quick answer, but the deeper things. For instance, can funadvice teach you transcendental meditation? Nope.

Answer #3

lol

Answer #4

Well, we certainly try ;)

Answer #5

I only tried once and it wasn’t successful

Answer #6

i just go on here for crap i cant figure out, im looking in my book. and i cant find a gosh answer for like ANYTHING!

Answer #7

@Diana funadvice is perfect for that. Lke how to mow your lawn, how to break up with that jerk. How to wash your cat. Where to buy lunch.

BUT for example, “learning HTML”, or “programming for the iPhone”, the things that take a bit of time to learn, can’t be answered by any site. We can only answer the little pieces of it, thats all.

Answer #8

@ Ericson yeah i ask and no answer and this is driving me insane! I CANT FIND IT!

Answer #9

Is this all young people? Or just a handful. Oh and I think this really depends on the level of interest the particular young person has on the particular subject. Interest plays a big role in the amount of effort placed into something.

Answer #10

Mig, you’re the worst one! :P

Answer #11

haha!

Answer #12

I know I know… :P

Answer #13

Interest, motivation and intelligence, they play a big part in it too:P

Answer #14

Don’t forget distraction… snarls

Answer #15

I think you’re wrong. I happen to love learning.

Answer #16

Haha quite

Answer #17

while interest plays a part i think a class should be fun and instead of a totally informative style of teaching, a teacher should show charisma and learn to get excited about what they want their students to learn

Answer #18

Here’s the thing. To succeed in life, you have to get deeply into your area of interest. Anything short of that is just jerking off, instead of b*anging the prom queen.

You’ll be permanently mediocre at what you do, instead of really being good at it.

Example – I suck at playing the piano, because after studying for 10 years I did not practice, even though I’m interested in it. I just did not get deeply into it.

Answer #19

Yeah ive had one or two teachers like that, i absalutely HATED history class, but when we had a fresh fun bubbly teacher, he just drew me into it, i absalutely loved it! But when he left..i lost interest. So yeah..I agree:)

Answer #20

Speculation! I’m considered young, eh? Seventeen? I like this site almost purely because it pushes me to look things up and learn more about them, even after I’ve figured out the answer of a question for someone else.

Answer #21

i belive most young people come on here to ask for advice cause they cant go any where else to ask .in today world parents dont take the time with there children so there is no talk to each other .there is a better way for them they dont have to be bothered by there parents. it called inter net ..as bad as it seems

Answer #22

I believe it is because the most recent generation is used to instant gratification. You can cook your food in under 60 seconds and get anything on the internet immediately, You don’t even have to go home to use the internet, you can do it on your cell or I-pod almost anywhere. I’ve noticed that when my children text a friend and do not get an immediate response they think the friend is angry with them. It doesn’t dawn on them they may need to wait for a response. With computers you can have mutiple pages/screens going at once and you do not have to focus on one thing.

For many if they can’t do it now or if it is going to take a lot of work they don’t bother. Each generation has these types but I think modern society is generating more of them now.

Answer #23
