What could be wrong and does it sound major?

Well for about 4 days now my body’s been extremely sore, specially my neck. At first I just thought I was sleeping wrong but now its turned into a high fever (usually between 100 and 101.5) two parts of my neck are highly swollen (I think my mom called them lymph nodes) to the point of pain. Before this I had a mix of streep throat ans tonsil infection but I’m so use to the way those feel I barly noticed but was suppose to get them taken out as soon as I was done taking the penaillian and steroids (yesterday I did) Also my neck seems to be the main point of fever, like it beta the hottest and if I put a wet wash cloth there the fever goes down faster. Any ideas on what is is? I really don’t wanna go to the hospital:(

Jade, It could be that the course of Penicillin wasn’t sufficient to knock out your Strep Throat and you need another round of antibiotics for it. It could also be a secondary infection you caught while run down from your Strep and tonsillitis. When I was in college I had Strep Throat, Mononucleosis, and Hepatitis all at the same time. In any case, it is time to see your doctor again since you still have a raging infection of some kind. When I was sick with strep/mono/hep they wanted to put me in the hospital but I told them that I really would be more comfortable and get better rest at home so they let me take care of my infections out-patient. Not sure what they will decide in your case but it never hurts to tell your doctor that you would rather stay home than be admitted. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

Lymph nodes never are a good sign.

If you have swollen lymph nodes it means the infection has spread! You may have had a wrong diagnosis all along, Seeing as the penicilin has not worked it comes down to a fungus infection or…. worse…. anyway, since penicilin is made from a fungus it actually helps them spread faster rather than slow em down

  1. Go to the hospital ASAP
  2. Ask for a different doctor, it would be in your best interest to have another doctor look at you
  3. ask for a Culture test, It is important you do this to see what is causing the infection, a Blood test will NOT guarantee results as it requires the cause to be known. this test will require a sample which will be extracted with a needle, while you do this require a biopsy to be done, just in case…..
  4. Do not, i repeat, DO NOT sit around any longer, it seems the infection is in full bloom and will progress faster!
  5. Take ketoprofen for the pain and swelling, not as strong as the steroioidal anti inflammatory drugs but it should work to an extent

Damn, streptococcus aureus was everywhere in you :O

Answer #4

To the informer - I think you might be judging it wrong Bc my brothers have also caught it which I don’t think is possible with a fungus infection

Answer #5

Fungus infections can be highly contagious. Fungus releases spores those spores attach somewhere else and then that’s how it spreads it’s like when u get athletes foot from wearing someone elses shoes

Answer #6

Jade i judged this from the uselessness of your medication, you posted a question before this one and asked if steroids or penicilin can mess up your menstruation, anyway its pretty clear its not hormonal, and the funny thing is i think the SAID (see earlier question if u dont know what im referring to) was hiding the symptoms, you may have had this infection for WEEKS, without any symptoms (yes its very possible). I want to make sure you do something about it before it gets to the point where you’ll be in constant pain, and no medication in the world can fix that…. what have you got to lose? go do the culture, its the only way to properly find out what is causing the infection… stop sitting around doing nothing -_-
