would piercing a dogs ear be bad?

okk, 1st of all I am an animals lover and am not into being cruel and all that, if you read my profile, you will see that…I am posting questions out of curiosity sake only. ..please be nice…Thanks! :) okk, I have thought about(but haven’t done it) piercing one of my dogs ears. Nothing huge but just a tint little hoop on the tip. . Like when people pierce there babies ears, those babies dont have a choice and yes, I know it hurts, but just for a second. Has anyone ever had their dogs ear pierced? And if so, how did it turn out? Just a curiosity question…

Answer #1

In one word? Yes. It’s far from necessary. The dog doesn’t need it and it certainly won’t thank you for it. It could end up trying to tear it’s own ear off. Also infection could be a problem. And a few people might even go so far as to call it animal abuse (not my comment, by the way). If the dog scratched at its ear, the earring could fall into their ear and impair their ability to hear. It’s not worth the money if it’s just going to get lost, damaged or swallowed. Do your pet a favour and treat them to a new pet toy instead.

Answer #2

really, dont do that a dog is not an accsessory, its not a fashion statement even babies shouldnt have there ears peirced its just stupid and unessessary dogs play around in the dirt a lot, the carry germs, its peircing is extreemly likley to get infected theres no point in giving an animal a peircing

Answer #3

You can do it. One of the doc’s I work with did it during her dogs spay. However all of the above answers are correct. I don’t think I would want to pay for exploratory just because she ate her earring. I don’t think It is a good idea. but yes it is possiable.

Answer #4

like ichibanarky said what happens if they end up ripping it out while they’re scratching their ears? babies dont scratch their ears with their feet, nor do they have long nails…

Answer #5

I don’t think it’s wise.

The dog would end up pulling on it and ripping it out, which would be painful and open to infection.

Answer #6

Dog’s ears have different nerves than a human - people do it, but its quite dangerous and I wouldn’t suggest it.

Answer #7

naw it wont hurt it just make sure that they vet does it

Answer #8

I would leave that one alone. It might look cute but could be very painful for the pup.

Answer #9

I highly doubt a Vet would even do it…

p

Answer #10

All it would take is one good playtime, or a decent ear scratching to rip it out…leave your puppers ear au natural.

Answer #11

I googled this and they have a site that has a bunch of pierced and tattooed dogs/cats. one of the posts on there said they got there dogs tattoo at the vet, so yeah I guess they would do that.

Answer #12

I wouldn’t pierce my dogs ears I have a 8 week old pit bull girl and I wanted to do hers and I thought to myself my dog doesn’t know what it is so why do it. Everybody above is correct don’t put you baby threw all that agony and pain. As for the persin that said piercing a babies ear is stupid they need to be quite. Piercing of babies ears has been around for many centuries

Answer #13

I was thinking about doing to my pitbull as well, but after reading all the posts, I agree ikt is not a good idea at all. A dog is beautiful in its purest form and I’m gonn keep her that way.

Answer #14

I was thinking about it. But every one is making good points. So I wouldn’t.

Answer #15

Yes there is a chance of the dog tearing out the earring, but if you still want to pierce the dogs ear, you can always buy a dog cone to put on the dog until the piercing heals. Then (when it is healed) when your not watching the dog you can just take the earring out, and when you want to take the dog out and show the dog off then just throw the earring back in. : ) hope it helps.

Answer #16

NEVER pierce an animal’s ears, or any other part of their body. That is dangerous to the animal. It can become infected, they can tear it out, and it’s considered animal abuse. Why would you want to do that anyways?

Answer #17

And I’m not being rude, just being honest. Dogs are beautiful as they are. They don’t need jewelry to look cute! Perhaps if you want to make it look like the ears are pierced, get the little stick on gems
