Working speakers, no sound?

My computer is dumb. Okay. so my speakers work perfectly fine. (I plugged the speakers in my ipod.) I plugged them in the day after that my motherboard came back from the shop. And put the right wires in the right place…

but now my speakers don’t work.

Are there any computer wizs out there who can help me outt?!

Answer #1

shame I can’t open it up and look at it, usually these things are best figured out by fiddling :( Looks like you may have to consult someone who knows about this sort of thing in real life. Sorry I couldn’t help better.

Answer #2

yeahh. the speakers used to work with my computer. And I really don’t know if they fiddled with it… yes. I plugged it in the green port. (:

Answer #3

Nahhh… I checked that too. its on full blast and everything. Still no sound. and etiher way, I think that if that were the problem, I woulda figured it out myself. (: I’m smart.

Answer #4

This might be too obvious (and possibly insulting) but, could the master volume thing not be turned down, you know in the bottom right with the other icons.

Answer #5

I wouldn’t for one moment question such a thing ;)

I’m guessing it’s something pretty straight forward, did it used to work with those speakers? Did they alter anything on the motherboard? It’s a long time since I fiddled with this kind of thing, but I thought you could either get your sound through an individual sound card (which is fiddly and needed software I think), or there’s the onboard soundcard which is part of the motherboard, which should be good enough on most modern computers. You plugged it into the green port thing right?

Answer #6

I think I could answer to that…No sound. go to control panel. Sound and Audio devices. Click it twice on the folder. You should see tabs, and there should be a volume tab, Sounds tab, Audio tab, Voice and hadrware tab. If you are in volume tab, LOOK for 1.Hd Audio rear output, or other name (next to the picture of a speaker), Then there is Device volume in the same tab. click on the button,ADVANCED.
Now, Check to see if the Wave is slide is up, or if the line slide is and/or up… Message me back if you got it, add me as a friend for furtther problems…
