Can you get a router to pick up wireless internet signals?? Is it illegal?
You could, if you were at her house. You need to realize that there is no such thing as "free" wireless internet, unless you're at a Starbucks or anyplace with a wireless hot spot. To access the internet via wireless you need to access a wireless router, which in turn needs to be linked to the internet. I still don't understand what you're trying to do here. Are you attempting to get wireless internet ANYWHERE? Like Verizon Mobile Broadband? Because that requires a special card and subscription to their wireless service to access the internet anywhere in the world via satellite.
A household router cannot retrieve other signals; it can merely generate its own. Your laptop can use a wireless network "sniffer" to search for signals that may be hidden, but actually connecting to them is an issue in its own. The legality of connecting to a network that you don't have authorization to connect to is questionable; as you'll most likely need to crack into the server with password decrypters or bruteforce utilities, which are illegal in this instance. What exactly are you trying to do here?
My friend has free wireless internet in her laptop and I was wondering if I cud hook mine up???
