Why is the back of my lip stud digging in a little?

Okay so I’ve had my piercing for about 4 days and I’ve noticed the back of the studs are going in the back fo my lip a little. is that normal?

Your lip is probably swollen right now so its pulling the piercings in. Be careful though because if you just leave it and don’t pay attention to it the skin on the inside of your lip can grow over the back of your stud. I use a lip ring for that very reason because my lip would start to form skin over the back of the stud and mind you I only wear my lip ring for at most 4 days in a row as I have to change it to clear stud for work very often.

Well, a piercer usually inserts jewelry that is a bit too big so that the piercing has room to breath and isn’t irritated if it swells up.

I had the monroe piercing for two and a half years before I had to take it out because it wore the enamel off of one of my teeth and ruined my gum line.

Even if you get the right sized jewelry for yours at some point after it heals, the piercing is still going to cause your gum line to recede and the enamel to wear off of the tooth that is behind the piercing. Once your gum line goes, it doesn’t come back. When your enamel wears off it leaves the tooth more prone to getting a cavity. The dentist can fix that for you, though.

I have no idea… I ask myself the same thing my piercing goes in and out like nothing :)

Answer #4

Because lips were not meant to be pierced!
