Lip stud wearing hole in my lip!!

Well I got my lip pierced about 5 months ago and always wore a ring, then I lost the ring and temporarily wore a silver ear ring stud in my lip instead, come to find out about 2 days later when I looked at it, it had wore a nasty looking hole in the back of my lip where the back of the earing was so I took it out. So about 3 months later I finally get around to buying a REAL silver lip stud (labret stud maybe? I don’t know the proper termology) the kind where you put it in through the back and screw the ball on, and So I put it in yesterday (Had to repierce lip by myself with a nail, was painful) and it’s doing the same thing! It’s wearing a hole the same size as the back of the stud in the back of my lip. It’s not very deep but it’s still noticible when I looka t it and gross looking. Is this normal? Should I take it out?

Ya thanks for the advice. I know the nail was stupid, but couldn’t find anything else, I heated it with a lighter and soaked in peroxide before hand though. No it’s not really painful just unsightly lol. No pain or puss, though there is a white discharge coming out of it, but I hear that’s normal? It’s not indenting my gums but the inside of the lip, where the back of the stud is.

Answer #4

Next time go to a professional piercer. They will change out your jewlery for you and also repierce if you have a problem. The indent from the backing is normal.

Answer #5

That is actually common with a piercing. Is the hole painful?

You have to remember that you have something constantly putting pressure on the inside of your gums, so over time it’s normal for it to create an indention in your gums where the piercing lays. As long as there is no pain, puss, etc, you should be fine.

As far as piercing it yourself with a nail - stupid move. Be sure to clean that thing every single time you eat or drink something, because you just doubled the risk of an infection.
