Why is it that I can only think clearly when I shuld be asleep?

I’m 13 and I have a lot of problems, but when I try to go to sleep all of my problems go through my head and then I can’t get to sleep until 6 or 7 am and about 3 nights a week I don’t sleep at all,it makes me tired and really paranoid to I’ve had a couple of panick attacks, my friends, family and schoolwork are affected by it and I’m really fed up any advice?? X

I think you need to talk to a counselor if it has gotten that bad. Sleep, food, air. Things you need consistently or your body is going to be in trouble. Writing is a great idea. Try some relaxation/meditation/yoga to help clear your mind. Try listing all the things you can think about, then decide on a time you will come back to the list the following day (say 5pm). Then go back to the list at that time. You’re going to have to deal with this at some point. Counseling sooner would be better. I’ve seen people get psychotic without it. Yes, paranoia is part of sleep deprivation.

well thinking at night is normal its quiet and calm and sometimes its a bad thing and just scary maybe if its tat bad you should talk to someone about it

I have the same problem, when you try to go to sleep its quiet and calm so you think about all that is bothering you at the moment. What I used to do was keep a diary and on nights I had this problem I would just write and write… it helps a lot. You can let it all out on paper and its easier to let go and cope with. give it a try, when your older you may like looking back on it too, I do!
