Why does my period cause aches, fatigue, dizziness, palpatations?

Every month, my period causes me to have one or more of the following symptoms: migraine headache, palpatations, muscle aches, nausea, dizziness/lightheadedness, weakness, extreme fatigue and restless sleeping, irritability, depression, confusion and clumsiness. Why does this happen and what can be done to treat these life-altering symptoms? Do they ever get better? And why does it seem like they’ve gotten worse as I’ve gotten older? I do have some health issues, but they only seem to really effect me when I am about to get, am on, and a few days after finishing my period.

well sory 2 say, I started my period when I was 12/13 im now 20 nrly 21, my periods have only goten worse!!! I’ve been for internal and external scans, and they have chnaged my contraceptive pill 6 or 7 times now, but thats because every pill they have put me on has failed 2 work!! since the very 1st day I started my period it was awful. I’ve been backwards and forth 2 the doctors and hospitals since the day I started!! I bled for 8/9 weeks at a time with no stoping! it made me pretty ill to be honest! its worth talking 2 your doctor like IFEELCRAZY123 said!! it also made me very anemic! having my period, so I was on iron tablets 4 times a day. But fingers crossed 7th contraceptive pill has worked so far, I’ve been on it 1 month. I take it all throught out with no break. and I’ve had no period, no ache no pains no nothing!! and im so thankful!! I have 2 try this pill for 3 months then if it doesnt work back 2 the doctor I go and I have 2 go see a gyno nurse. hope this kinda helps especialy knowing your not the only one whos been throught it! or going through it!

You are feeling this way because you lose a large amount of blood during your period and it makes you feel drained it would be like giving blood the more they drain the more tired you get that is why there is a limit on how much blood a person can give at any session. It is important to eat well at this time sleep well and generally look after your self hope this helps

Unfortunately some women just get bad PMS symptoms. I get them almost as bad too (the extreme fatigue being the worst of them all). Exercise and a healthy diet is about all that works for me.

Also speak to your doctor about getting an iron and magnesium supplement during and before your period. That should relieve the majority of your symptoms.
