Why am I the only one in my family my dog tries to hump?
My dog is about a yr old and is a male terrior and apsolopso mix. He seems to be in heat but the only person he tries humping really is me. It’s constant.
first, ill tell you this, male dogs dont go into ‘heat’ males are always ready and willing to go. females are the ones who go into heat. just b firm with him, push him down and ignore him, even walk away without even registering him. dont let him think hes getting attention from his behavior.
a dog humping a person is a behavior problem and for some reason he knows he can get away with it with you. You need to correct his behavior.
yeah it could be your perfume, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, etc. you should really discipline him when he starts again. tell him off and put him away from everyone else for about 10 minutes. soon he will learn a lesson.
Maybe it’s a scent that’s on you. Try to consult a trainer or have him fixed and it should stop.
He sees you as “lesser” in the pack dynamics…(this may simply be a doggie’s perception from the sidelines), watching you obey parents, etc…
Start taking him for walks, doing his feeding, and working on obedience with him…he needs to “see” you as “higher” in the pack dynamics than he is…and this is a passive, yet VERY effective way of changing how he views you. Working with this boy, on a daily basis (plus feeding), will elevate you in his eyes…forever!
