Why am I so tired?

Lately I’ve been exhausted!!! I have no idea why, though. I even started going to bed really early, and still im always tired. I’m a vegetarian, maybe that has something to do with it??? But I hate being this way because all I want to do is sleep. Does anyone know what is wrong with me Or how I could fix it? Thanks

I am a vegetarian too. I used to be tired all the time but that was because I wasn’t paying attention to the things I was eating and therefore I wasn’t getting proper nutrition. Are you sure you are getting the right amount of protein and b vitamins and Omega 3’s? Honestly you are probably getting enough iron in the dark veggies you eat…Unless you dont eat broccoli, greens[ mustard greens, chard greens, and such..] or any form of dark green veggies. I am a going to be a chef and I am very knowledgable in things of the nutrition sort…Its my fav. thing to learn about.

And secondly it may not have to do with your nutrition at all. Maybe you have mono. Do you know anyone that has been around you that has had it in the last 12 months…A person can shed the virus up to 12 months after they have it. So go to the doctor tell them your symptoms and you can get a mono spot [The test for mono levels-blood test] and a panel to show your levels for all the necessary things in your body. You can talk to me if you have anymore questions about nutrition or health…I’m usually good at those, or if you want someone to help you with eating better. =]

its probably because your a vegetarian theres nothing wrong with being one but it doesnt sound like your getting the iron, protien, and other nutrients your body desperatly needs you can try taking suppliments for them

I definitely think it has something to do with Iron deficiency and also you should definitely get your B12 checked. You can buy these vitamins at a local drug store and make sure to take your iron with orance juice (vitamin C helps to absorb iron). However, make sure you also get checked by the doctor because it could be something else, and it could be worse than a deficiency.

Have you been going through a rough patch in life lately? Research has shown that when people feel emotional pain, they begin to feel really sleepy, because the state of sleep sort of numbs it, and you can’t feel it anymore. It’s similar to cats, which, when they feel extreme physical pain, they can actually make themselves fall asleep in seconds. But, yeah, that might be why.

how is your iron level??

I’m not a vegetarian but I rarely eat meat (maybe, MAYBE a piece of chicken once a month), I do not eat sea food (HATE it) and I’m lactose Intolerant. So basically I eat carbs and veggies. I’m always tired, dizzy, and sometimes my vision blurs. My fiance thinks I might be anemic because I don’t take any supplements or vitamins. I made a doctors appointment two weeks from now but I don’t believe I’m anemic. Any ideas? (I’m a healthy 26 yr old female, exercise daily)

Answer #7

Im a vegetarian and at the doctors I asked for an anemia test because I was always tired and it came out positive. Sometimes I get dizzy when I stand up too. And I eat a reasonable amount of dark vegetables, but my mom is anemic too and shes not a vegetarian so maybe it runs in the family. My doctor said to just take vitamins with iron for a few months and then go back to get re-tested. Certain foods enhance iron absorption, but some inhibit it. I read that soy products make it harder for your body to absorb iron. Also, exercising can give you more energy.
