Who knows if it is legal to own a falcon as a pet?

I really want to own a peregrine falcon… However I dont know if it is legal, I already know that I would have to take classes on handleing the falcon and get a licence for it. But im not really sure if getting the licence is for hunting purposes only or if its to actually own the falcon… So first, is it legal? And second what has to happen before I get one?

it would only be legal if you have the proper licence NOT a licence to kill one an animal license that allows you to keep exotic and unusual animals such as a falcon I would assume before you can get the license you would need to pass a test on it to determine how capable and knowledgable you are about the animal and how to care for it
