Is she pregnant and does it matter when a pregnancy test is taken?

Ok I found out today that my friend thinks she might be pregnant. Her boyfriend isnt bothering to buy her a pregnancy test as he is “worried about his gcses” so I told her that I would help. She says that she is two and a half weeks late and that she is sick every morning and she has “all the signs of being pregnant”. Could she be pregnant? Also, is it necessary to take the pregnancy test in the morning as she wakes up? This might be quite difficult so im hoping its not as I will see her in the afternoon. All advice and opinions are much appreciated and necessary!!

Yes, your friend could be pregnant if she’s had sex with her boyfriend. There’s always a chance of getting pregnant every time you have sex. It ranges from possible to probable depending on the circumstances…A home pregnancy test is like 98% effective at detecting pregnancy when used correctly. Most of them tell you to use the test in the morning with your first urine because that is when the levels of hGC is the highest and easier to detect. Since your friend is over two weeks late, it really shouldn’t matter what time of day she takes the test. Many pregnancy tests are designed to be able to detect hGC up to a week before you even expect your period, so if she is pregnant it should be able to tell. Maybe have her try to drink a lot of water and hold her pee for a while to let the hormone levels ‘build up’ a little like they would if she hasn’t used the bathroom all night…good luck, girls. Oh, and buy a two pack cause no matter what result the first one shows, she’ll want to take another…especially if it’s positive.

Well, she is likely pushing it back and avoiding taking the test, because she doesn’t want to face the fact that it’s a strong possibility.

Since it’s been two weeks since “conception” (if she is pregnant), a pregnancy test should be valid.

For the “Early detection” tests, it’s best to take it first pee of the day. Unlike ovulation tests, pregnancy tests are best when you do it right when you wake up in the morning.

Good luck to her!
