Who else is afraid of dogs?

If you weren’t raised around dogs then it is normal to be afraid of them. It’s part of the survival instinct.

The main thing to remember is not to “run” from dog(s). That primes them instinctively to chase you like they would any other prey. Talk to them while simply walking away.

The only way to overcome a fear, is to face it. If you know someone with a friendly dog…the bigger the better…like a Lab, for instance…then ask them to help you over come your fear. Dogs are everywhere, and the aren’t called “Man’s best friend” for nothing…they’ve been domesticated since the days of the caveman…there is NO animal who’s domestication has been this long.

A dog is the only animal which will defend YOU against it’s own kind…did you know that?

Anna…you aren’t so scared of dogs, as you may be of germs…good luck on that one…you can’t even see a germ coming! :)

I respect dogs that don’t belong to me. I teach my grandkids this. When we go to the Vet’s office I teach my 4 year old grandsons that they are to ask people before they go near their dogs, if they can pet them.

I love dogs, but I have a healthy respect for dogs.

I am not afraid of dogs. Dogs can sense your fear and they react to that fear. You must have had a bad experience with dogs at some point in your life.

well it depends on what kinda dog it is but big ones seem to scare me a little

my brother is a golden retriever jumped up at him and knocked im ova wen he was lyk 3, he started crying, he is scared of my neighbours dog and she is LOVELY!! :) he is starting 2 lyk the small breeds though lyk terriers nd daschounds. He is now 8. Sadly we dont have a dog :(

I have a dog and he is very sweet. He comes and sits next to me when I’m close by and licks my face ^-^…D: lol

      I think people who haven't grown up with dogs are more frightened as they aren't used to them. (I am scared of cats because one attacks my face when I was young). I know not all cats are like that but I still am scared. 

I find that if you are unsure of a dog, let it sniff your hand before you stroke it.
